«Wars could be stopped if only music spoke»

Gigi D’Alessio becomes a Doctor. The Neapolitan singer-songwriter received the parchment of the honorary degree awarded to him by the «Nicola Sala» state conservatory of Benevento for his contribution to the ‘Pop for Songwriter’ discipline. The approximately 300 free tickets made available to attend the ceremony which was attended by the artist’s family and the mayor of Benevento Clemente Mastella together with his wife Sandra, sold out in just a few minutes.

The words of Gigi D’Alessio

Visibly moved, Gigi D’Alessio before collecting the parchment, which was given to him by the director of the Conservatory Giuseppe Ilario, and by the president Caterina Meglio, he performed with some students of the Conservatory. And he said precisely to young people: «The things you learn when the files are empty, that is when you are young, are the things that remain with you forever even if life leads you to broaden your horizons».

The message to young people

And again: «Music makes you love, it makes you entertain, it makes you cry. And wars could be stopped if only music spoke”, she added to the applause of those present. There is also space for a personal dedication to her partner: «I dedicate this degree to Denise. It’s the first important award I’ve received since we’ve been together.” The Benevento Conservatory has also announced a second honorary degree, which will be awarded in mid-May Enzo Avitabile.
