Volunteers for freedom – 25 April 2024 on Rai Radio 3

Women were protagonists of the Resistance: Radio 3 remembers them on 25 April by telling some stories of partisans who went to fight Nazi-fascism and were persecuted, tortured and killed for this reason. Four historians and one historian reconstruct the lives of ten women, in ten pills, women whose fundamental contribution to the partisan war is documented in the archives of the Historical Institutes of the Resistance together with that of thousands of other women from all social classes who participated in the war of Liberation. With these testimonies, Radio 3 wants to contribute to bringing out the role of the “Volunteers for Freedom”, which has long been kept silent. With the voices of: Barbara Berruti, director of the Piedmontese Institute for the history of the Resistance and contemporary society “Giorgio Agosti”; Ilaria Cansella, director of the Grosseto Historical Institute of the Resistance and the Contemporary Age; Metella Montanari, director of the Institute for the history of the Resistance and contemporary society of Modena; Alessio Parisi, director of the Giambattista Lazagna Resistance museum in Rocchetta Ligure; Elisabetta Ruffini, Bergamasco Institute for the history of the Resistance and the contemporary age.
