An interesting interview by Fedez with Gurulandia talking about the business of the podcast world, the future of publishing and politics: “Never say never, for now I’m not interested”.

Fedez was the protagonist of the last episode of Guruland, the podcast by Marco Cappelli and Roberto Vertucci. The rapper spoke about his personal situation, avoiding gossip and focusing his statements on the ‘business’ aspect of his life. On the possible future in politics: “Never say never, but not at the moment. Maybe when I’m older.”

The obsession with money

On the obsession with money, Fedez denies:

Everyone thinks I’m obsessed with money, luckily not. I’m obsessed with making money while having fun because true luxury isn’t getting rich. I know a lot of rich people who aren’t happy. The secret is to be rich and happy. My aim in my life is also to be able to build things, but I get there by having fun.

Politics: “Never say never”

Fedez and politics. “Never say never,” admitted the rapper: “The spirit is to leave something important in this country. To date, if you enter the building it is difficult to change things. It is easier to change them outside and to date I don’t feel the need to enter politics”.

Luis Sal returns to Muschio Selvaggio, he will record new episodes of the podcast after Fedez’s release

The Wild Moss case

Ample space for the Muschio Selvaggio case with Fedez who explained the current situation: “I wrote to Luis several times saying let’s talk about it peacefully, but pride also sets in. There was a deep relationship and it takes time”. Fedez also left a series of reflections on the future of the market:

A podcast starts to take on an identity after a year or two. Muschio had two lives, when Luis was there we thought one way, when Marra arrived I had the opportunity to do things that I couldn’t do. Luis didn’t want to talk about politics, but Marra and I are very similar on politics and other topics. We did things that were not only beautiful to look at, but beautiful to do. If I had been hungry for money, who would make me do Wild Moss losing money and paying people? I liked doing it, that’s why. […] Muschio’s future is not in Luis’s hands. Now there’s a third party managing things, there are proceedings going on and it’s a mess because we have a 50% stake in the company. The issue is that neither of them wants to sell. We both offered each other a lot of money. I don’t want them, Luis doesn’t want them or maybe he wants more.

The world of podcasts, according to Fedez, has unexpressed potential:

The world of podcasts is an untapped business because all the podcast companies out there have been given into the hands of people who don’t understand shit about podcasts and haven’t understood the true potential. Wild Moss, without everything that happened, could have been worth 40 billion euros. No one has figured out how to make money with podcasts. The problem with publishing is that they don’t have generational change. When their readers die, those who remain alive don’t “fuck them”. Podcasts intercept Gen Z and will create a new chapter in publishing.

Big publishers against influencers

A light passage on the Balocco case. Fedez explained that the reason why there was this demonization campaign against influencers is to be found in the money that editorial groups are losing in favor of influencers’ campaigns:

Go and look at the publishing data. Guess where the money they lose is invested? On influencers. Every article you read against influencers is not disinterested speech. They tried to build a demonizing narrative of influencers because they are trying to stop an avalanche with a teaspoon in their hand. They didn’t understand that the avalanche will come in their faces even if they manage to build a credible narrative. After that today you have to tell me what the difference is between Gramellini and Alessia Lanza. For me, Alessia Lanza is more interesting.
