In an interview with Vogue France, Celine Dion she came back to talk about illness that afflicted her, the stiff person syndrome (SPR), which she was diagnosed with in 2022.
The Canadian pop star, 56, is aware of that at the moment there is no cure for the SPR: “I have not defeated the disease, because it is still inside me and will always be. I hope we will find a miracle, a way to cure it with scientific research. At the moment I have to learn to live with it“.
The singer talks about the first moments she experienced after the diagnosis: “At the beginning I asked myself, ‘Why me? How did it happen? What have I done? It’s my fault? Life doesn’t give you answers. You just have to live it.”
And he explains that he has no intention of giving up: “For some reason I have this disease, the way I see it I have two choices, I train like an athlete and I work hard or I quit and it’s over.”

How he is coping with the disease
Celine Dion says she decided to work hard “with my whole body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team”, after overcoming the most difficult moments thanks to the love of his family.
His new one routine is this: “Five days a week I undergo athletic, physical and vocal therapy. I work on the tips of the toes, on the knees, on the calves, on the fingers, on singing, on the voice”.
“People who suffer from this syndrome may not be lucky enough or lack the means to get good doctors and good treatments,” the singer points out. “I have these means and this is a gift. Plus, I have this strength inside me. I know that nothing will stop me“.

There stiff person syndrome (SPR) is one rare neurological disease which affects the central nervous system. It is an autoimmune disease that causes muscle stiffness And very painful spasms.
