What in between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian There’s no bad blood, it’s nothing new, but now there are those who swear that the singer threw some digs at the socialite in her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.
The fault, so to speak, of one song in particular, thank you aIMee, where Swift sings about one bully From highschool. The first clue is in the title, where three letters are capitalized and read together make the name Kim. A case? Maybe, but there’s more. The alleged references continue in the lyrics, where Swift sings about a bronze statue tanned with self-tanner (Kardashian’s great passion). It’s still: “I can’t forgive the way you made me feel/I screamed ‘fuck you Aimee’ as the blood poured out.”
Who knows if Swift really wanted to put her feud with Kardashian to music or if it’s just yet another piece of gossip. There is no doubt that relations between the parties are tense. It all started in 2016, when Kanye West released the song Famous, containing a verse against Taylor: «I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous”, i.e.: “I feel like Taylor and I could still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.” Words that Swift didn’t like and that Kardashian, married to the rapper at the time, justified saying that the singer had approved the lyrics before publication. To support this version, the video of a phone call in which the husband and Swift discussed the text and from which Taylor seemed to approve. The singer has often returned to the issue, replying that that phone call was recorded illegally and that on her part there was never an approval for West’s lyrics.
«I thought it was the end of my career. I was very sick.” the singer revealed to Time last December speaking about the matter again, «Psychologically I ended up in a place I had never been before». TO Time Swift also spoke about that phone call: «Illegally recorded, which Kim Kardashian edited and then released to tell everyone that I was a liar». From Swift’s point of view it was certainly no small thing: «I had moved abroad. I was afraid of receiving phone calls. I pushed away most of the people in my life because I no longer trusted anyone. I was very, very sick.” Today that she is a star recognized by all and that her success has become undisputed, Taylor Swift is aware of a great truth: «My response to everything that happens, good or bad, is to continue creating. Continue making art.” And again: «I also learned that there is no point in actively trying to defeat your enemies. The rot eliminates itself.”
