Filming has just finished in Turin (started on 19 November) of the film which sees the Turin musician and record producer Dade (Davide Pavanello) behind the camera for the first time, together with the screenwriter and director Roan Johnson, for the second time under the Mole.
Images and music take center stage: the soundtrack becomes the story itself
A feature film, the title of which has not yet been made official, with Lorenzo Aloi in the role of the protagonist Sami, a young rider who meets Nia – played by Kaze – on New Year’s Eve and which puts images and music at the center of the scene, also thanks to a cast which sees the participation of artists such as, among others, Levante, Margherita Vicario, Kyshan Wilson, Rosa Chemical (the latter in the role of himself) and with Claudio Santamaria. A metropolitan story with an original and innovative slant, which uses the soundtrack as a leading narrative tool: this film is an experimental work that mixes the visual story with music, fusing the narrative plot with unreleased songs from the rap and pop scene, where the actors themselves interpret a continuous swing of verses sung and lines recited in a rhythmic manner, and where the soundtrack does not accompany the story… but becomes the story itself.
The Turin locations of the film
Among the main locations of the film – which ranges from metropolitan suburbs to residential and bourgeois areas – several popular neighborhoods linked to the complex of the ATC – Territorial Agency for the Housing of Central Piedmont (such as in Via Pietro Cossa and Corso Grosseto), as well as neighborhoods in the city center (in the area of Via Roma, Via Bruno Buozzi) to tell the rich areas of Milan (for example spaces in Crocetta to bring back the imagination of Brera), the ASL Via della Consolata where the police station, private homes in via Legnano and a villa in corso Massimo D’Azeglio were set. Numerous Piedmontese professionals worked on the set in the various departments, in a crew made up of 95% local workers, including the organizer Andrea Tavani, the production director Danilo Goglio, the production coordinator Alessandra Lofino, the set designer Lonie Heys Cerchio, the costume designer Francesca Cibischino, the location manager Davine Spina.
Set in Milan, but entirely shot in Turin, the feature film produced by Movimenti Production, Red Joint, Emotion Network with Rai Cinema was made with the contribution of the Fund for the development of investments in cinema and audiovisual Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual, with the contribution of the PR FESR Piemonte 2021-2027 – “Piemonte Film TV Fund” call and the support of the Film Commission Torino Piemonte and with the patronage of city of Turin.
