While George Miller revealed the new Mad Max actor who will appear in Furious with Anya Taylor Joy for a brief cameo, the director Edgar Wright he published on social media his reaction to the new film of his veteran colleague, one of his greatest idols.

As is known, in fact, Wright – famous author of cult films such as Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim and Baby Driver – is one of the most famous and enthusiastic fans of George Miller’s hyperkinetic cinemaand in fact his review for Furiosa: A Mad Max Story couldn’t be more positive, and even contains a comparison with Ben-hurWilliam Wyler’s 1959 masterpiece which still shares the record of 11 Oscar wins together with Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Even though today I know what it takes to make a film, still I don’t understand how George Miller manages to create his works“wrote Wright.”I was lucky enough to see ‘Furiosa’ about a month ago, and I’m still amazed how a film like his can exist. It’s so intricate, detailed and immersive. The planning and love that went into the staging, design and every other aspect is simply unreal. Hats off to George and the team for giving us 45 years of imaginative, visceral cinema. The film is a feast for the eyes and ears, bringing Max’s first adventure full circle in 1979. The subtitle A Mad Max Saga is true to its word, and the closest comparison I can think of is ‘Ben-Hur’ – where a long fuse of revenge burns for years and repays with (no spoilers) the sweetest revenge. Directors and fans will walk away with their heads spinning. I felt inspired and envious! There was a scene where I asked my friend sitting next to me: ‘How the hell does he do these things?“.

Furiosa will be released in Italy from May 23rd. For other content, find out how many films there are in the Mad Max saga.

On Mad Max – Anthology (4 Blu-Ray) It is one of today’s best sellers.
