Now that Disney has put a stop to Marvel, announcing a restructuring of the release calendar, the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige commented for the first time on the failure of the saga last year.

Apart from Guardians of the Galaxy 3which also returned to the ranking of the most profitable films of 2023, last year Marvel collected its biggest flops ever with Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, something that however does not worry fans high-ranking executives of the production company: “If we had forever remained at the top and at our fullest potential, it would have been the worst thing that could have happened to us. We had a little knock on the head, and now we’ll come back even stronger” commented Feige and Louis D’Esposito, the vice-president of Marvel Studios. “Maybe when you do too much, you dilute yourself a little‘” added D’Esposito. “We won’t do it again. We have learned our lesson. From now on we will probably come out with two or maximum three films a year and only one or maximum two TV series, instead of making four films and four shows”.

Speaking to Empire, Feige added that he is comfortable in the underdog positiona condition he has faced since the beginning of his career and especially before the release of Iron Man in 2008.”It’s nice to be able to advertise just one film project this year“, he said. “I feel much more comfortable being seen as the underdog. It is the position from which you can manage to surprise and exceed expectations. This past year hasn’t been ideal for us, but I know it has prepared us well for what’s to come”.

Speaking of what’s to come, check out Disney’s release calendar from 2024 to 2031.
