S. ALESSIO – On Friday 10 May, at 7pm, the medium-length film by Italian-American actor and director Micheal Cavalieri will be presented as a preview for the Ionian Riviera at the Elihotel of S. Alessio. It’s called “Ritornato” and was filmed in Limina a few years ago. It tells the story of the director’s grandfather, Agatino Alibrandi, born in 1900 in the small town of Agrò and courageously emigrated to New York in 1921. Michael Cavalieri made his big screen debut in 1994 starring in Christopher Cain’s “The Next Karate Kid” (Karate Kid 4). In his career he can boast numerous appearances in successful films and television series, such as “Last Man Standing”, “ER”, “The Sopranos” and “NYPD Blue”. He has recently dedicated himself to directing, signing the award-winning “The Door to Hell” about the drama of the children employed in the Sicilian sulfur mines.

Carmelo Caspanello’s interview with Cavalieri and Sergi

To create “Ritornato”, Michael Cavalieri made use of a production with local actors and workers, supervised by director Fabrizio Sergi. The film tells the story of the rediscovery of the origins of a third generation immigrant who always knew he had grandparents with the surname Alibrandi who came from Limina, a semi-unknown village in the Messina hills.

The event is sponsored by Cinit-Cineforum Italiano. The day before, Thursday 9 May, a presentation press conference will take place. On Friday 10 May, before the screening of the film, the mayors of Limina, Filippo Ricciardi, and S. Alessio, Domenico Aliberti, the president of the Proloco, Pina Basile, and the president of Cinit, Massimo Caminiti, will speak. The director will instead dialogue with the film critic Massimo Cicala and Fabrizio Sergi. Entrance to the screening is free while seats last.
