There is some confusion among fans of the Jumanji franchise.

The recent Jumanji films starring Dwayne Johnson have reignited enthusiasm for the franchise but fans are confused about the title of the next chapter: should it be called Jumanji 3 or Jumanji 5?

The confusion arises above all from the presence of the original film from 1995, Jumanji, starring Robin Williams. Fans are unsure whether the next film will follow the original story making it Jumanji 3 or whether it will be part of the reboot series, which would make it Jumanji 5. Not to mention the doubts about whether Jumanji 4 will be produced or not.

What’s the next Jumanji?

For all those considering the film with Robin Williams as a starting point for the story, the next sequel would be the fifth chapter, because the 2005 spin-off Zathura: A Space Adventure is also taken into consideration as part of the Jumanji universe, with which it shares themes and connections with The original book by Chris Van Allsburg. Adding Zathura to the tally the next Jumanji would be number 5.

Younger fans, however, identify more with the recent reboot saga, which began with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, airing today, Saturday 27 April on Rai Movie at 10.40pm. After the subsequent Jumanji: The Next Level, for this segment of fans the next one would be Jumanji 3.

Whether the next one is the third or fifth chapter, one of the stars of the reboot, Karen Gillanspoke about the delay in the production of the next film:“If you find out who is to blame for the delay can you let me know? Because I don’t know. I’m sure it’s complicated to manage everyone’s schedule but I haven’t heard anything about it other than the fact that we will do it sooner or later”. The cast of the new Jumanji series includes Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Colin Hanks, Danny DeVito and Bebe Neuwirth returning as Nora ShepherdJudy and Peter’s aunt in the first film produced in the 90s with a very young Kirsten Dunst.
