Owen Wilson turned down 12 million for a film claiming OJ Simpson’s innocence
Descriptive text here

The times the trial was talked about OJ Simpson on the big or small screen they are decidedly numerous: the case of the former American football star is one of the most discussed and interesting in the history of US jurisprudence, and it is more than normal that even today the seventh art continues to focus on it.

Documentaries and TV series, however, have always generally limited themselves to reporting the facts of the controversial trial, occasionally going so far as to underline the many pieces of evidence that have led most to consider the man guilty accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and then acquitted during the criminal trial.

A film currently in production, however, seems to want to take the opposite side: the film will be called The Juice and will be directed by Joshua Newton, who recently revealed that he had received a firm no from Owen Wilson. “I met him in Santa Monica. Everyone liked the script, his agent wanted him to do it and we offered him 12 million. But finally he said, ‘You’re kidding me if you think I’m going to take a role in a movie like that paints OJ Simpson as innocent” were the director’s words. We’ll see if Wilson’s entourage has any comments to make on the matter: we, in the meantime, have reported to you on Disney+ the first season of American Crime Story, focused precisely on the OJ Simpson case.
