The new film directed by Milanese director Alessandro Genovesi, Maker of Tears, a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Erin Doom, was released on the Netflix platform on Thursday 4 April. Filmed in Italy but set in the United States, the film is produced by Iginio Straffi and Alessandro Usai by Colorado Film.

Sixteen days after its release on Netflix, Maker of Tears has become the first Italian film to be the most watched on Netflix worldwide. A record resulting from a winning collaboration between Netflix and Rainbow with Colorado Film.

Among the most popular titles recently published on Netflix, Maker of Tears tells the story Nica’s story, a girl who lives in an orphanage in which the legend of the tear maker circulates, indicated as guilty for having created all the fears of human beings. One day Nica is adopted but she is not alone: ​​with her there is also Rigel, a boy who hates her.

In the cast of Maker of Tears we find Caterina Ferioli, Biondo, Alessandro Bedetti, Roberta Rovelli, Orlando Cinque and Sabrina Paravicini. The film was shot both in the United States, mainly in Chicago, and in Italy, in particular in Pescara, in the municipality of Ravenna near the Lido di Dante and the Classe pine forest. Active as a screenwriter and director, Alessandro Genovesi in the past directed films such as The Worst Week of My Life, You Can Kiss the Groom and 7 Women and a Mystery.
