The The Bride by Maggie Gyllenhaal has all the potential to be a remarkable film. We’ll have to wait a bit to see it in theaters: the first photos, however, give us an idea of what awaits us.
As we know, there are two projects in progress linked to Shelley’s work: The Bride, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, which was born as remake of Bride of Frankenstein, the 1935 classic; on the other hand we have Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein which will see Jacob Elordi in the role of Frankenstein himself.
The latest updates regarding The Bride come directly from the director who released the first camera tests: the images offer us a first look of Christian Bale (as Frankenstein) and Jessie Buckley (the bride). Furthermore, the cast of the film also includes Penelope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard and Annette Bening. Although The Bride was abandoned by Netflix, the project was taken over by Warner Bros. But what will the plot be?
Apparently, the film will follow the events of a lonely Frankenstein in 1930s Chicago: the revived man will go in search of Doctor Euphronio in the hope that the latter can create a life partner similar to him. The story, however, will take a completely unexpected turn when the two will bring a murdered woman back to life. We just have to wait to find out more details about this dark-tinged film.
