Comacchio. “It is essential to keep attention high on a problem that risks taking away from us a unique environmental, landscape and economic resource”. The position of the Lega-ID MEP Alessandra Basso was clear when she visited Comacchio to discuss coastal erosion in a meeting attended by the deputy mayor Maura Tomasi and the councilor for the environment Antonio Cardi, as well as local representatives of the Lega, starting from the provincial secretary Ottavio Curtarello.

“Beyond essential emergency operations, it is essential to structure effective and lasting interventions. Nourishment, even the planned one, certainly has little impact from a landscape point of view, but the mere movement of sand is an indecisive long-term system – he adds-. It is therefore necessary to identify solutions that are as permanent as possible, and to do so starting from an overall assessment of the coast, whose situations are extremely heterogeneous”.

Basso, who will bring the issue to Europe, reported that “the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions have already taken steps in this direction, putting their hand to awarding an avant-garde studio. Emilia-Romagna should do the same”.
“A decisive change of pace is needed – he concludes – to find the most suitable solution to save our coast: an authentic heritage and a founding element of the local economy”.
