With the agreement expired and no renewal in sight for the management through AC Legnano, also excluding the hypothesis of the automatic renewal of the extension, the Mari field returns to all intents and purposes under the aegis of the Municipality of Legnano: June 30, in fact, was the last day of validity of the agreement made in June 2023 – an annual extension – with AC Legnano and as the clouds that have been gathering over the skies of the Lilla for some time now have suggested for several weeks now, a renewal has not arrived in time. Despite everything, the Sports Councilor Guido Bragato still seems to have faith in a solution that will allow Legnano to continue playing at the Mari but only after the historic sports club has achieved a new stability, starting with the possible contacts with new shareholders that have been talked about for some time. “Even at this moment we confirm what we have already said in the past weeks – comments Bragato -: we want Legnano Calcio to play at the Mari stadium and as a Municipality we will make it available. For this reason we have given the mandate to proceed with the reconstruction of the post-Palio field, precisely so that it is ready for the season. Then the convention, or other agreement, is “only” the means, the contractual instrument. We waited considering that it was the same company that represented to us some situations in rapid evolution: at the right time we will find the best means, taking for granted the forms and methods of management of the structure can be defined only when the reasons for uncertainty that have emerged have been overcome”.

Already a few weeks ago, the Municipal Administration, following the request of AC Legnano, had taken direct charge of the resurfacing of the turf of the Mari stadium, a necessary intervention, as every year, after the Palio. The extension of the agreement signed in June 2023 with the then president Lilla Montanari provided that the work would be managed directly by the sports club and then reimbursed by the Municipality of Legnano: the Municipality instead proceeded directly to the assignment of the work to guarantee the availability of the playing field for the start of the sports season also because, at the moment, the conditions of the Mari field are indeed problematic.
