LVORNO. They broke into two historic cemeteries by forcing one of the entrances. Taking away all the work and gardening tools, including a lawnmower, toolboxes, hedge trimmers and blowers. Theft during the night between Sunday 30 June and Monday 1 July in the cemeteries of the Greek Orthodox and the Dutch German congregation, in via Mastacchi.

The discovery, early in the morning, by the person in charge of the latter, Silvana Tiralongowho even found an abandoned hoe near the tombstones. The criminals, who should have had plenty of time to act, caused a lot of damage, even breaking down the tool shed in the garden of the Greek Orthodox cemetery. “They went to the other cemetery,” explains the governor of the Dutch-German congregation, Maximum Sanacore – entering the building they manage, where they caused a lot of damage. In our area, however, they broke into a room on the ground floor, stealing a key and maintenance tools. They were obviously aiming for those». «In our area – continues Tiralongo, the area manager – they had attempted to break in 15 days ago too, I noticed it because I heard a very loud noise coming from the front door, while I was inside waiting for some people, but the thieves fled before I could see them».

Things went worse at the Greek Orthodox cemetery, where in addition to the damage, a lawnmower, some toolboxes, hedge trimmers and blowers disappeared. Also in the building on Via Mastacchi, in this case three years ago, thieves attacked the headquarters of Anpana, which at the time was housed in the premises of the Dutch-German congregation, before moving to Villa Maurogordato. Yesterday, after the call to 112, the State Police patrol cars and a team from the Digos intervened on site. After that, to take some fingerprints found inside the building managed by the Greek Orthodox community, the forensic police also arrived. The Flying Squad, as soon as they receive the documents from their colleagues, will investigate the theft.
