Pistoia, 2 July 2024 – Only a few days left days to go for the 43rd edition of the Pistoia Blues Festival starting on Thursday 4th July at the Fortezza Santa Barbara in Pistoia with the Calexico concert. This is a special preview of the Festival that will continue in Piazza Duomo with Tommaso Paradiso (7th July – Storytellers), the unclassifiable irreverent pop/prog of Elio e Le Storie Tese (8th July), the soul of Mario Biondi and the jazz of Dee Dee Bridgewater in a unique double show (11th July), the class of the projectsi of the child prodigy Matteo Mancuso and Mark Lettieri of Snarky Puppy (double show on July 12), Greg Allman’s son with the Devon Allman Project (July 13, Teatro Bolognini) and the great Antonello Venditti (July 13 – Storytellers).

The 43rd edition of the Pistoia Blues Festival 2024 will be opened by the concert of the American band Calexico expected on July 4, 2024 at the Fortress Santa Barbara in Pistoia. On American Independence Day, the band founded by Joey Burns and John Convertino will bring their desert folk blues to the Festival stage for the first time. The folk country blues of singer-songwriter Carlo Rizzolo will open the evening. The artist from Vicenza has recently released his third solo album entitled “Four Corners”. Sunday 7th July Tommaso Paradiso will be the protagonist in Piazza Duomo in Pistoia. His concert is part of the Storytellers festival, which for some years has been offering evenings dedicated to the new generation of singer-songwriters, of which the former voice of The Giornalisti is the undisputed protagonist. On Monday 8 July the festival continues with a brilliant and unclassifiable group like Elio e le Storie Tese. The eclectic band led by Elio, with their irreverent ways, ranges from rock to blues to prog for what is a truly one-of-a-kind concert. The “Mi resta solo un dente e cerco di riavvitarlo” tour marked the band’s great return after years of inactivity and is enjoying tremendous success throughout Italy.

It will be a unique evening on July 11, 2024 when the following will take to the stage in Piazza Duomo Mario Biondi e Dee Dee Bridgewater with their respective shows, among the best soul, blues and jazz. For Mario Biondi it is a welcome return to the Blues stage after the 2010 show: on this occasion he will bring his “Crooning – the italian tour”. Another great double show will be held on Friday 12 July in Piazza Duomo with two great guitar talents such as Matteo Mancuso and Mark Lettieri. Matthew Mancusofrom Palermo, born in 1996, already highly esteemed by Joe Bonamassa, Steve Vai and Al Di Meola, who have sung his praises, is a child prodigy of the guitar.

The festival will close on Saturday 13th July with two simultaneous events: in Piazza Duomo there will be the great return of Antonello Venditti (sold out) for the storytellers section of the Festival, while Devon Allman will perform at the Bolognini Theatre with his latest project. The occasion for Antonello Venditti’s return is the start of the summer tour “Notte prima degli esami 1984-2024 40th anniversary” (in collaboration with LEG Live Emotion Group). While Antonello Venditti will perform in Piazza Duomo, blues enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the show The Devon Allman Project at the Bolognini Theatre, the blues/soul project of the son of Greg Allman. The opening act will be the singer-songwriter from Pistoia Lorenzo Del Pero with an acoustic set of new sounds and unreleased songs. In addition to the 43rd edition of the Festival, three other events and shows of national appeal will be held on the stage in Piazza Duomo. On July 5th there will be a concert by the British Blue. On July 6th the show Teenage Dream. On July 10th the show by Paul Crepet.
