Pisa, 1 July 2024 – The Carabinieri of the Navacchio di Cascina Station (Pisa) conducted an investigation called “East” which revealed an extensive prostitution exploitation networkinvolving mainly girls of Chinese origin. The investigation, launched in the spring of 2023, started from the observation of an unusual coming and going of men at a house on Via Tosco Romagnola. Subsequent checks confirmed that the house was used for prostitution activities. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Pisa therefore delegated further investigations to the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Carabinieri Company of Pontedera. The investigations have allowed us to identify two dwellings, one in farmhouse and the other one to Castelfranco of Sottoused for prostitution. The properties were advertised on websites with explicit ads. Thanks to wiretaps and video surveillance, the organization that involved a man living in Cascina, owner of the property, a chinese woman who managed the telephone utilities and another man from Cascina logistics collaborator. The illicit activity generated a turnover of approximately 45 thousand euros per month, with an average influx of 15 customers per day for each home. The Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Pisa issued a precautionary custody order: the two men were placed under house arrest, while the Chinese woman was imprisoned. The homes were placed under preventive seizure. The girls the carabinieri explained, they were all of Chinese origin, young and, for the most part, coming from Northern Italy, in particular from the metropolitan area of Milan. On average, a girl worked in the house for 10 to 15 days at most, after which she was replaced. The average cost of a sexual performancethe military further explain, was found to be 50 euros, with “minimal” or discounted services for “loyal” customers up to a minimum of 30 euros or, for special requests, with costs up to 100 euros or sometimes higher figures. The operations were carried out by the Carabinieri of Pontedera starting from the early hours of today.
