“Nature in Evolution” is back, the scientific review of the Gran Paradiso National Park

The second edition of the scientific dissemination review “Nature in Evolution” is underway. Launched by the Gran Paradiso National Park in 2023, this year the review aims to address the theme “Communication in nature” and is divided into numerous meetings between July and August.

Because of meteorological phenomena that hit Cogne over the weekend, the Paradisia Alpine Botanical Garden is not reachable and unfortunately it will remain closed to the public until further notice. Therefore, the summer events belonging to the Scientific Popularization Review “Natura in evoluzione”, scheduled in that location, have been moved elsewhere.

In particular, the event on Saturday 6 July, with researchers from the University of Turin discovering communication between plants and insects, has been moved to Rovenaud-Valsavarenche Water and Biodiversity Centre.

“The experts, invited to the various events, will tell us about their research,” he says. Caterina Ferrari, of the Communication, Education and Tourism Service of the Park – they will make us experiment with new techniques and present results and new hypotheses of scientific research on communication between animal and plant species and their environment. The path will underline the importance of the conservation not only of the single species, but of all the relationships and connections between species and environment”.

Under the guidance of the Park’s experts, the following will be explored in depth: strategies that different animal and plant species adopt to communicate with each other and with the surrounding environmentand how communication in nature is also affected by changing climatic and ecological conditions. The aim is to strengthen a new awareness of the values of conservation and environmental protection.

The meetings will be conducted in person by researchers and experts responsible for research on the topicwith a popular approach that can make even very complex topics accessible to everyone. Particular attention will be paid to children and young people: each meeting will in fact open with a practical workshop dedicated to the youngest.

The review will start Saturday 6th July al Rovenaud-Valsavarenche Water and Biodiversity Centre. The appointment is at 10.30 with the educational workshop “Natural Dialogues: Discovering Communication between Plants and Insects”. The presentation is by F. Berbero, L. Casacci and MR Tucci.
