Four degree theses were awarded today, in the Sala di Rappresentanza of the Municipality of Trento: have won the two calls established with the testamentary bequest of the Vecchietti sisters and provided by the Apsp Fondazione Crosina Sartori Cloch of Trento. The first call was reserved for graduates in mathematics or physics three-year degree at the University of Trento and the winners are Edoardo Tomasi and Valentina Buzzotta (both in mathematics).

The other call was dedicated to graduates in international studies or sociology at the University of Trento and the winners were Andrea Ronzani and Gloria Svaizer (both for international studies).

The sisters Jolanda, Lidia and Ada Vecchietti, already benefactors in life and attentive to the needs of the community of Malé and the Lombard municipality of Valmadrera, where they lived and worked, they also left an important property, in Val di Sole, to the Crosina Sartori Cloch Apsp foundations (which deals with residential care with particular attention to those it defines as “orphans of the future”) and Silvestri (which provides support to people in situations of social marginalization in Val di Sole).

Returning to the graduates, the “The Sorelle Vecchietti Award”, dedicated to mathematics, saw the presence of professors in the commission Edoardo Ballico, Sonia Mazzucchi, Marco Sabatini and the advisor of the Crosina Foundation Dario Romeo; the ““Ferruccio Vecchietti Award”for the sinternational studies, had as commissioners professors Arlo Poletti, Alessia Donà, Vincenzo Della Sala and, once again, the lawyer Dario Romeo.

Both calls for tenders envisaged gender equality and were reserved for graduates in the period between June 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024, with a score of 100/110 or higher. The basic requirement for candidates was to be involved in voluntary work. Each award led to the assignment of a “scholarship” of 1,500 Euros.

Gloria Svaizer’s thesis is entitled “An opportunity for the birth of an EU demos: regulation, implementation and potential of the European Citizens’ Initiative”. Edoardo Tomasi’s work concerns “Kurepa’s Hypothesis: An Important Combinatorics Statement in Set Theory”. Valentina Buzzotta won with “Equality between futures prices and forward prices when interest rates are constant”. In the end “Future is now: a call for an active involvement of children in liberal democracies” This is Andrea Ronzani’s thesis.
