Situation

Humid and unstable south-westerly currents are flowing into the region. On the morning of July 1, thunderstorms broke out on the high plains, which then moved to the pre-Alpine area. Starting at 5:30 p.m., with the entry of the front at high altitude, some storm cells arranged themselves linearly from west-southwest to east-northeast, then moving towards the south-east. Subsequently, the storm cells were less organized and of lower intensity, leading only to widespread showers.

The most significant accumulations of rain after 6 pm were: 61 mm in Pantianicco, 60 mm in Buttrio (of which 39 in one hour), 50 mm in Bicinicco. The strongest wind gusts recorded were 108 km/h in Gradisca d’Isonzo, about 80 km/h in Rifugio Marinelli and Col della gallina, about 75 km/h in Gorizia airport, Rest and on M.te San Simeone.

Forecast

Monday 1st July: unstable weather. Probable showers and widespread thunderstorms with heavy rain, more frequent in the plains and mountains. Possible some strong thunderstorms with locally heavy rain.

In the next few hours, thunderstorms will still occur from the high plains to the Prealps. From the afternoon, a linear storm front will affect the entire region, moving from the northwest to the southeast. The thunderstorms could be strong with possible gusts of wind, locally intense rain and hail.

Tuesday 2nd July: in the morning partly cloudy sky towards the coast, variable elsewhere. From the afternoon increase in cloudiness with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, more likely between the Prealps and the plain.
