The next July 3rd the internationally renowned painter Katia Papaleomember of The Perceptive Group, will star in a Critical insight at the Grenada Pavilion at the 60th Venice Art Biennale, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

Known for works that are characterized by intense poetry, she will be the protagonist of an in-depth study on La scommesse di Arianna in which the composition, as stated by art critic Giulia Rustichelli: “branches out swirls of tones and speckles in the style of Ernesto Treccani; in which courage and trepidation mix, equal to the youth of the portrayed subject, who wages war without rest [… ] Katia Papaleo’s creation, faith of rebirth and healing, thus rises to a heap of life and suffering; memories pile up, challenge each other, complete each other, the instinctive, frank temperament overflows, as a lyrical transposition of a heartbreaking invocation and empathic conversation.“.

The work is significant of a pictorial production always characterized by a sparkling chromatism where the material on the canvas retains an impressionist flavor with echoes of Leonid Afremov. The mixtures of Ours initially rely on a drawing system that reflects the vision of reality in an essential way. This rendering gradually flows into a surrealistic abstraction.

In the rest of the production, attention is evident towards symbolism, that powerful language of expression that allows to communicate complexity. A connection is established with the visitor that allows to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers, in a mix that does not accept hierarchies where religions, myths, fantastic animals are positioned close to each other.

The artist offers new worlds, with an intense yet suffused, fairy-tale palette, which highlights a commonality with the mysterious research of Odilon Redon. read the rest of the article»
