World University Championships, boats set sail from Turin towards Rotterdam

The trailer with the boats of the Italian Rowing Federation for the University World Championships scheduled from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 July in Rotterdam, Holland, left CUS Torino this morning at 5.30. Led by the Italian university technical collaborators Lorenzo Tedesco and Federico Vitale, the boats will reach the rowing basin where the regattas will take place, the Willem Alexander Baan, after about 1,200 kilometers of travel. There they will find the delegation of the Italremo Universitaria led by the head coach of the sector Mauro Tontodonati, ready to set up the boats and carry out the first training sessions for a highly anticipated event since, thanks to the Covid pandemic, the last edition of the University World Championships was held in 2018, in Shanghai, China, and since then the only important international event for the sector has been last year’s World University Games, also held in the land of the dragon, in Chengdu.

In Rotterdam, the event program, after the Opening Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday 3 July at 16:30, includes the start of the regattas on Thursday at 9:30, with the heats taking place in two different moments, that is from 9:30 to 10:50, and then from 11:50 to 13:10. On Friday, from 9:30 to 10:20 and from 11:50 to 12:32, the recoveries will take place, while from 12:39 to 14:30, with a lunch break inside, the semifinals are scheduled in the specialties where scheduled. Finally, on Saturday 6 July, the finals for the minor placings will be held between 12:10 and 13:47, while in the afternoon, from 15:30 to 18:55, space for the finals.
