Pantaleo CorvinoDirector of the Technical Area of Lecce, was interviewed by Radio Series A in Rimini on the occasion of the official opening of the 2024/2025 transfer market: “Lecce’s purchases? We moved early with players whose contracts are expiring and with other purchases, we rely heavily on ideas, we must strive to make this type of market for sustainable football where we must try to capitalize and create young teams to give the club a future. The youth sector is also very important for us, we try to create resources from there; in fact, in the team we have three starters who come from our youth team which is champion of Italy”.
If the purchase of Fruchtl means the departure of Falcone:
“A team must grow market after market, after two consecutive salvations in Serie A we always want to add something where there is a need. Having enriched the group of goalkeepers with an important goalkeeper I think is something more that this team was missing”.
On the rest of the market:: “Our fans have an enormous passion for the team, our effort is always to satisfy their passion by doing our best, because we are the first fans. The effort is maximum knowing that it is not easy, we will try”.
On the jewels of Lecce: “We have highlighted many technical resources in these years, trying to be a model through ideas, looking around the world because in Italy it is difficult due to the high costs. It must be the heritage of a company to go to a globalized world to look for potential where it can be found at affordable prices. This must be seen as a virtue, we must not demonize what we do. We are demonized for what we do because they think we have a vocation only towards foreigners, it is not true because in the first team we have Falcone, Baschirotto, Gallo. It is logical that having to give vent to ideas, when you cannot do it at home you have to go far away, but that is an art. I would like to fish in Italy first, but if we cannot, we have to go and do it outside. We too have the right not only to participate but to give our fans what a footballer with qualities can give us, even if he comes from far away”.
About the next season: “When we arrived in Serie A, those who were already in Serie A saw Lecce as a weak team, with an Italian ownership that was trying to do the best it could within its resources. Today, multi-billion dollar owners arrive from Serie B with funds that have a big impact on policies. For us, Como, Parma and Venezia are all important owners that play football differently from ours and therefore represent teams to fear in order to achieve our goal”.
