“A PUBLIC NOTICE for the provision of financial support to families with children with DSA was published on 06.28.2024 on the Notice Board of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria.
As ADDA Association, we remain astonished by the incompetence of intervention towards families who already fight daily for the recognition and guarantee of rehabilitation interventions and for the guarantee of compliance with art. 60 of the LEA.
In principle WE have been and ALWAYS will be for the provision of services and not for financial perks, however when by political will the provision of financial contributions is decided, these must NOT CREATE DISCRIMINATION!
To the officials of the Social Services Sector we recommend read up on the characteristics of Autism WHICH UNFORTUNATELY It is a lifelong condition and there is no age limit.
We remind ourselves that in 2021 we were forced to INTERVENE to correct an identical NOTICE which at the time set the 14 year limit!
Thanks to the prompt welcome of the Chief Executive Officer Domenico Mantegna, the same notice was canceled and resubmitted without age limit, which was also carried out in 2022 and identical 2023.
To our great regret, in 2024 this monstrosity is being developed which contrasts with the indications of the ISS and the entire scientific community for the reasons stated above, it is true that when we talk about AUTISM there are no age limits either in the social or health fields!
We promptly contacted the Councilor responsible for the matter on social media and by telephone and he told us that: Due to commitments related to the municipal elections, I have not had the opportunity to follow my 4 Departments in the Metropolitan City this month, including the fundamental Social Policy Sector.
It’s not an excuse but it’s simply the pure truth.
On Monday morning I will ask both the Manager and the Procedure Manager for further clarification and I will try to understand their motivations.
I can only at this moment say that in January the political will was once again to allocate money also for families affected by the autism spectrum.
Then it is necessary to understand, following my expressed political direction, what were the methods of drafting the Notice, which as you well know is the exclusive responsibility of the officials and not of the political party.
That said, we’ll update soon.
Knowing and respecting the Managing Director Mantegna, whose sensitivity and closeness to Autistic families we recognize and we recognize that he was the first Italian Councilor of the Provinces and Metropolitan Cities to identify a fund intended for autistic families, WE EXPECT the revocation of the Notice Public and Emanation as in previous years without age limits for the reasons explained.
If this is not the case, as an Association we will take all the actions permitted by law to put an end to a DISCRIMINATION that cannot be accepted!
