FLORENCE. Adriano didn’t think twice. When he saw that overturned car in the opposite lane in Fe-Pi-Li he stopped, got out and intervened to help the occupants of the car, who were trapped inside. The protagonist of the rescue is a policeman police station in Florence off-duty man who was traveling towards Florence to return home with his wife and two-year-old daughter.
The accident
6pm on Saturday evening. A car travelling towards the sea loses one of its tyres at the junction between Lastra a Signa and Florence Scandicci. The car skids and overturns. Inside, a man and a woman remain “prisoners” of the vehicle: the doors are locked and they cannot get out. The tire splashes into the oncoming lane and hits the door of another passing vehicle, fortunately without causing any injuries.
The intervention
By chance, at that very moment, Adriano is driving along the highway towards Florence and when he reaches the junction between Lastra a Signa and Florence he realizes that something has happened: there has been an accident. Instinctively he pulls over to the right edge of the road and decides to intervene. He climbs over the guardrail and goes towards the overturned car, from which smoke comes out. The two occupants do not move, they appear unconscious. The policeman, however, manages to open the door of the vehicle and free the woman from the passenger compartment, bringing her to safety. Help also arrives on site and the driver of the car is also saved.
