Italian as a language of study and a language of culture is at the center of the international meeting “Italianists of the world” scheduled for Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 July at the University of Florence, as part of the events for the centenary of the University.

The initiative, promoted by the Association of Italianists (ADI), is carried out in collaboration with the Department of Letters and Philosophy and the “Aldo Palazzeschi” Study Center of the Florentine University and will bring together scholars and teachers of Italian language and literature from 30 associations and 39 universities around the world, from Argentina to New Zealand, from South Korea to South Africa, from Norway to Japan.

The meeting, reserved for members, will be hosted in the Aula Magna of the Rectorate (from Wednesday 3 July, 10.45 am – Piazza San Marco, 4 – Florence) and can also be viewed live streaming on the YouTube channel of the Centro Studi “Aldo Palazzeschi”.

The event was born from the common need to address problems and share perspectives related to the teaching of Italian language, literature and culture. The objective is to take stock of the wide range of educational and scientific proposals, with a view to agreeing on common paths, encouraging exchanges and shared projects and relaunching the study of disciplines belonging to the Italian studies area.

The initiative has been sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Culture, the Dante Alighieri Society, the Treccani Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia, the Department of Modern Letters and Cultures of Sapienza University of Rome, and Rai Toscana.
