Another exciting success for the 12th literature festival that invaded the “city of fortune” with around 40,000 visitors, increasing the flow of cultural tourism
Festival Passages closes the 12th edition with a public response that went beyond all expectations: 40,000 estimated attendancesmany tourists coming from different regions of central and northern Italy.
Many readers of all ages, motivated by different interests, all participating and attentive to an increasingly intense and varied cultural offering.
A participation that can be felt simply by walking through the streets of Fano during the five days of the Festival, when books were talked about everywhere
190 guests, over 150 events all with free entry in 12 locations divided between the historic center and the seafront.
This year more than ever we felt the public’s closeness and trust in our cultural proposal. We have known for years that the largest audiences, those in Piazza XX Settembre and the Pincio, attracted many people. However, we had confirmation that even the smaller venues (150 to 400 seats) were sold out even with presentations of specialist and more niche books.
Another confirmation was that of the presence of many tourists from outside the region: a flattering result which requires us to make precise choices for 2025 too, since this year the agreement with the Municipality of Fano expired which we will be discussing again soon and which we hope to renew.John Belfioridirector and creator of Passaggi Festival
A festival with a thousand faces that has ranged from non-fiction to non-fictiontouching on the themes of politics, economics, art, science, philosophy, history, well-being and which brought the great names of journalism, culture and entertainment to the stage.
In particular, a focus on artificial intelligence which saw the “Futuropresente” exhibition, launched by the theme “Error and artifice”, among the most followed.
In short, one of the Italian “word festivals” that bases its program 90% on books, but which has also opened up to other forms of expression.
In this edition we didn’t want to give up experimenting with multiple languages, from theater to conversations about science. Another very important part of the festival that will need to be strengthened is that which concerns children: Passaggi is also an event for families and since the second edition we have focused on workshops for the little ones, immediately adding non-fiction aimed at young and very young readers .

There are two unique features of the event: the many young volunteers who work and have fun at the festival and who make Passaggi a unique place of welcome and friendship, as well as the atmosphere that is born precisely from this friendship and is transmitted to the public, and then immediately turn into nostalgia as soon as the festival ends.
The appointment for 2025 is already set: the 13th edition of Passaggi Festival will be from 25 to 29 June, and the wait has already begun.
