The countdown has begun for the Waterpolo Sardinia Cup, scheduled at the Alghero municipal swimming pool from Thursday 4th to Saturday 6th July, which was presented in the Lo Quarter Hall of the Alghero Foundation, by the president of FIN Sardinia Danilo Russu and by the technical commissioner of the Settebello Alessandro Campagna. The president of the Alghero Foundation Neria De Giovanni was the host. Also present was the provincial delegate CONI Sardinia Giuseppe Manca. In the quadrangular tournament, together with Italy, Greece will participate, with whom the Azzurri are in common training for three days, world champion Croatia and Spain, bronze medalist at Doha 2024. In Qatar, the Azzurri won with Greece 11-10 in the quarterfinals, won with Spain 8-6 in the semifinals and lost with Croatia 15-13 after the penalty shootout and after having drawn 11-11 at the end of the match. For Alessandro Campagna’s team, the path of the final part of the World Cup will be repeated. Croatia-Spain, which will open the quadrangular tournament, is also a repeat of the European final of January 16 in Zagreb, won by the Iberians 11-10 for the first time in their history.
