From this morning, Monday 1 July, the vaccination center in the Gallarate barracks is closed but dozens of people still showed up at the gate because they had received the text message confirming the appointment with the old address. However, in front of the large gate, there was not even a sign posted explaining how to behave.
The news of the planned closure had also been reported in May by the press but without a precise date. Two days ago, the press release appeared on the Asst Valle Olona website with new vaccine locations and numbers to call.
In fact, the new organizational model for vaccination activity in ASST Valle Olona has started today. Therefore, the closure of the Gallarate Vaccination Hub and the contextualisation of prevention into districts are part of this context.
Being able to guarantee the vaccination offer at the ASST Valle Olona Community Houses allows the harmonization of vaccination strategies to guarantee greater equity according to the highest standards, adapting the offer to individual territories; the further implementation of the services provided in the area of prevention and health promotion within the Community Houses of the ASST Valle Olona (Resolution 6760/2022); the promotion of vaccinations through professional networks of general practitioners and specialists, thus ensuring the vaccination care of chronic and/or fragile patients by the specialist centers that treat them for the underlying disease.
The planned vaccination sites are, specifically:
Busto/Castellanza District: Community House of Busto (currently the activities are in the Pozzi Pavilion while waiting for the work to be completed at the headquarters in Viale Stelvio) and Community House of Fagnano Olona;
Gallarate District: Community House of Cassano Magnago, and at the Gallarate Hospital (waiting to complete the works of the Community House in Corso L. da Vinci);
Saronno District: Saronno Community House which continues with the regular vaccination offer as this district has not been centralized at the Gallarate Vaccination Hub (former Air Force Barracks);
Somma Lombardo District: outpatient clinic at the Community House in Lonate Pozzolo, and at the Hospital in Somma Lombardo (pending completion of the work on the Community House in via Fuser).
