The Civil Protection of the Umbria Region has issued a yellow level alert for thunderstorm risk for Tuesday 2 July.

Here are the weather forecasts for Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd July, published on the Civil Protection website of the Umbria Region and updated to 1st July.

As for the general synoptic situation, the website states, “the high pressure over the Central Mediterranean is rapidly giving way under the pressure of a trough, with an axis from Scandinavia to Gibraltar, which is channeling unstable flows to the southern sectors of Europe, decisively affecting the Alpine arc and the northern regions of Italy. Instability is expected across the entire Peninsula, even in the coming days”.

As for Umbria, Tuesday 2 July “bad weather since the morning with scattered rainfall, including showers or thunderstorms, more insistent in the northern sectors and along the Apennine ridge. Phenomena attenuating from late afternoon starting from the western sectors. Rain winding down in the evening. Winds: light to moderate from the northern quadrants, with strengthening to strong in the central hours of the day. Temperatures: minimum temperatures significantly decreasing, maximum temperatures decreasing significantly”.

Wednesday 3 July “unstable weather, with some light rain in the morning. In the afternoon, a marked worsening with scattered precipitation, of a stormy nature, more insistent and frequent in the southern sectors. The phenomena will end in the evening. Winds: from light to moderate of variable direction. Temperatures: stationary, well below the average for the period”.
