A second cycle at Cagliari ends for Mancosu after the initial one, which saw him grow in the rossoblù youth sector and make his debut in Serie A in the 2006-2007 season. Having returned from Spal last year and after several stages in his career, Mancosu, despite his physical ailments, was among the most decisive men for the return to Serie A with five goals and six assists between the regular season and playoffs. In the top flight, mainly due to the injury suffered in January which forced him to undergo a new operation on his right knee, Mancosu was unable to make the desired contribution on the pitch. An absence which, however, did not deny the islanders’ number 5 from playing an important role in the dressing room and a salute to their fans on the last day of the championship against Fiorentina. Now it remains to be seen what the future of Mancosu will be, who like Aresti may not hang up his boots (here to read).

From day zero, Cagliari, Cagliari and Sardinia in the blood. From here you set off on a long and wonderful journey, which saw you return home when the rossoblù people needed your crystalline class. Markixeddu one of us, good luck for the futureo”, these are the words written on their pages by the club to bid farewell to the class of ’88.
