REGGIO EMILIA – Turetta was jealous because Giulia Cecchettin was chatting with a man from Reggio Emilia. The femicide of the 22-year-old student from Padua, kidnapped and killed by her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta on November 11, 2023, could also be due to jealousy that arose from the messages that the young woman exchanged with one of our fellow citizens. This is what was revealed by Corriere della Sera.

Turetta’s anger was triggered by the discovery of a chat between Giulia and a boy from Reggio Emilia. Giulia attended the International School of Comics in Reggio Emilia, where she hoped to become an illustrator, and traveled regularly between Padua and Reggio to follow her studies. Giulia’s sister showed the young artist’s drawings on television, many of which were published on Instagram, gathering unanimous approval.

Probably on those occasions she met the boy from Reggio with whom she then exchanged messages.

On November 8, three days before the murder, Turetta becomes furious when he discovers that Giulia is in contact with another boy. He downloads a spy app and searches Instagram. Giulia responds, calling him “sick” and accusing him of spying on her. The final interaction between the two is fraught with tension, with Giulia expressing a desire to keep some things private and Turetta desperately trying to maintain control.

Giulia was found dead on November 11, 2023 in Austria, with 75 stab wounds, a clear sign of the ferocity of the attack. Prosecutor Stefano Finocchiaro has opened an investigation for voluntary homicide, also accusing Turetta of the crime of stalking, which could cost him a life sentence.
