TARVISIO: A woman born in 1994 from Trieste was rescued between 12.20 and 1.40 pm after being injured while crossing the Sentiero del Re di Sassonia with trail marker 629, in the Julian Alps, Rio Bianco Group, above the Canale della Trincea, at an altitude of approximately 1300 metres.
The woman, who was in the company of two other hikers, probably tripped on a root or a stone, falling on the spot and probably suffering a fracture of a lower limb. The point where the accident occurred was fortunately not one of the exposed ones, but was located on a downhill section between the two points of the route equipped with the cable.
Unable to continue due to the pain, help was called via Nue112. Sores alerted the teams from the Cave del Predil Alpine Rescue station and the Guardia di Finanza, who went to the base camp located in Val Rio del Lago to support the regional helicopter rescue.
The rescue helicopter landed exactly on the point provided by the coordinates and landed the medical technical team on site with 40-meter winches.
The woman was stabilized and taken away with the evacuation triangle. Two rescuers accompanied the two remaining hiking companions along the final part of the route to the Brunner Refuge and then down to the valley: one of the rescuers was transported to altitude by helicopter and lowered with the winch, the other climbed up independently on foot.
The woman was delivered to the ambulance in Tolmezzo.
