Stefano Maccarini Foscolo Canella is the new president of the Rotary Club Reggio Emilia

Giuliano Tagliavini passed the collar of the historic city service club to Stefano Maccarini Foscolo Canella.

Advisor to the FAR and founder of the local GMI, Maccarini Foscolo Canella founded the Cooperativa Culturale Teatro San Prospero, directing it from 1984 to 1993. In 1993 he founded the company “INSCENA” srl, becoming its vice president and organizational director and then president and legal representative, collaborating with prestigious Italian theaters such as the Teatro Municipale Romolo Valli, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, the Ente Lirico “Pier Luigi da Palestrina” in Cagliari. He has curated over 50 productions with the Compagnia Corrado Abbati, as well as exhibitions and art catalogs. From 2004 to 2009 he directed the Teatro del Vittoriale in Gardone Riviera and since 2008 he has been president of the “Associazione per il musicale Alberto Franchetti”.

For the next twelve months Stefano Maccarini Foscolo Canella will be in charge of leading one of the oldest Rotary clubs in Italy, godfather of all the other clubs in the province of Reggio Emilia.

On Thursday 27 June, at the Corte del Mulino in Fellegara, the traditional ceremony of the passing of the collar was celebrated, in the presence of the members, gathered with family and friends, and numerous Rotary authorities.

The now Past President Giuliano Tagliavini presented the report of the 2023-2024 year: numerous meetings, visits, conferences and activities inspired by the motto “Leadership, Engagement and Passion to Create Hope”. In fact, Tagliavini’s vintage stood out for its important services and solidarity contributionstestifying to Rotary’s strong bond with Reggio Emilia, in favor of city institutions such as the Capuchin Convent, the I Teatri Foundation, the Palazzo Magnani Foundation, the Deputation of National History, the Ocular Genetics Clinic of the Ausl IRCSS Santa Maria Nuova with the donation of a electroretinogram of the latest generation. In addition to these donations, there are the scholarships to the deserving students of the “A.Peri-C.Merulo” Conservatory (Augusto and Luciano Del Rio Scholarship) and to the deserving young graduates in Mechatronics Engineering of the Unimore (Franco Lombardini Scholarship). The commitment of Rotary Reggio Emilia has also gone beyond the city borders to give a concrete support both in favor of the flood emergency in Emilia-Romagna last summer and in favor of the Don Mario Prandi Hospital in Ampassimanjeva in Madagascar.

Worth mentioning are the visits of the US Ambassador Prof. Emilio Iodice and the Vietnam ambassador to Italy, Duong Hai Hung, as well as the conferences offered to citizens, all accompanied by panels of high-profile speakers, on the founding father Meuccio Ruini on the occasion of the celebrations of the tricolor flag, on artificial intelligence and on the fight against bullying. Tagliavini’s vintage will be remembered by Reggio Emilia above all for the great success of State Police concert at the Romolo Valli Municipal Theatre on March 11born in collaboration with the Reggio Emilia Police Headquarters and the I Teatri Foundation and thanks to the support of Reire srl and Studio Galaverni 1925, in addition to the precious contribution of the Manodori Foundation. The concert was a gift from the Rotary Club on the occasion of its 75th anniversary to thank every single citizen, every institution and every body that shared the values ​​of friendship, ethics and service with the club service.

The word then passed to the new president Maccarini Foscolo Canella who illustrated the guidelines of his mandate, dedicated to culture and in particular to the cultural associations of Reggio Emilia, which represent an essential pillar for the social cohesion and cultural development of the community.

President Maccarini Foscolo Canella, for the implementation of his program, will avail himself of the collaboration of a Board of Directors that this year will be composed of Vice President Cesare Bellentani, Secretary Carmelita Ardizzone, Prefect Mattia Govi, Treasurer Michele Corradini, and members Riccardo Ferretti (counselor), Lorenzo Ferretti Garsi (counselor), Emanuele Galaverni (Incoming President), Stefano Ovi (counselor), Alessandra Renna (counselor), Lauro Sacchetti (club instructor), Daniela Spallanzani (counselor) and Giuliano Tagliavini (Past President).
