MESSINA – Zucchero “Sugar” Fornaciari returns to Sicily with all his energy and his extraordinary band with “Overdose D’Amore World Tour”, international tour of the famous Emilian artist who debuted last March at the Royal Albert Hall in London with 3 very successful dates.
On Sunday 30 June the Franco Scoglio Stadium in Messina will host the only date in Southern Italy in which Zucchero will give the public great music and strong emotions, retracing his incredible career and performing his greatest hits.
The event is organized by Puntoeacapo (with the artistic direction of Nuccio La Ferlita), Friends & Partners and in collaboration with the Municipality of Messina, led by Mayor Federico Basile.
The show will be a big party in which Zucchero’s contagious energy and his songs are the protagonists. A unique opportunity to attend a show full of surprises and live music with his extraordinary band.
In the meantime it’s out on the radio and digitally “Overdose D’Amore 2024” (EMI / Universal Music Italia – Columbia / Sony Music Italy), the version of Salmo of the famous song by Zucchero “Sugar” Fornaciari.
“Overdose D’Amore 2024” is the result of the consolidated relationship between the two artists in recent years, characterized by a deep mutual esteema. The original idea of reimagining the famous song “Overdose (D’Amore)”, which this year celebrates 35 years since its publication, It was born from Salmo and immediately captured Zucchero’s attention and enthusiasm.
The music video was shot entirely vertically using smartphones. The images, taken in Morocco, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Shanghai, Posada (Nuoro) and other Italian locations, create a visual mosaic that brings fans from every corner of the world to the scene.

Driven by a great desire to have fun and achieve something together once againafter having shared the stage several times, Salmo and Zucchero have combined their energies and their creative flair, giving life to a new version of “Overdose (D’Amore)” which represents the perfect fusion of their unique styles and personalities artistic.

A pillar of the rap scene, Salmo started – on June 15th at Fiera Milano Live (Rho) – with Hellarisers, the tour that sees him as the protagonist of the Italian summer festivals together with Noyz Narcos, with whom he released the platinum joint album “CVLT” and the repack “CVLT – Hellarisers”, released last May 17th.
Among the greatest interpreters of blues rock in Italy, Sugar (registered as Adelmo Fornaciari) In his career he has sold over 60 million records, including 8 million with the album “Gold, incense & beer”. In addition to being the first Western artist to have performed in the Kremlin after the fall of the Berlin WallSugar is also theunique artist Italian to have participated in the Woodstock Festival in 1994, at all the events of the 46664 per Nelson Mandela of which he is Ambassador and Freddie Mercury Tribute in 1992.
Also in 1992, Zucchero and Luciano Pavarotti shared the idea of the Pavarotti & Friends charity gala. The first edition, broadcast live worldwide, kicked off a series of annual benefit concerts that continued until 2003.
In 1999 he took part in the IMST Festival in Austria performing in front of 200 thousand people, after Bryan Adams and before the Rolling Stones. The same year he was invited by Bono of U2 to play at the Net Aid charity gala in New York which was broadcast all over the world.
Zucchero also participates in two editions of the Rainforest Fund (1997 and 2019), the benefit concert organized by Sting together with his wife Trudie Styler to protect the rainforests around the world and defend the human rights of the indigenous peoples who live there.
During his career he has played in 5 continents, 69 states, 650 cities touching unique destinations such as Oman, Mauritius, Thailand, New Caledonia, Armenia, New Zealand and many others. In the 2004 performed at the Royal Albert Hall with a memorable event in which he hosted internationally renowned colleagues on stage, including Luciano Pavarotti, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Solomon Burke and Dolores O’Riordan. The concert was later released on DVD with the title “Live At The Royal Albert Hall”.
In 2007 he was nominated for a Grammy, with Billy Preston and Eric Clapton for Best R&B Traditional Vocal Collaboration. His concert in December 2012 at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana with over 80,000 people was called the largest live ever held by a foreign singer in Cuba under embargo.
With over 65,000 people in attendance, a July 2018 performed in Hyde Parkon the occasion of the British Summer Time in London, alongside international artists such as Eric Clapton, Santana, Steve Winwood. Zucchero, during 2020together with the biggest international stars participated in the global live streaming “One world: together at home” (in support of the World Health Organization in the fight against Covid-19), has acted as the spokesperson for a universal message on the occasion of 50th anniversary of World Earth Day playing the unreleased “Canta la vita” in front of a deserted Colosseumtaken from “Let Your Love Be Known” by Bono, with the lyrics in Italian written by Zucchero and in featuring with Bono.
And, again, he sent a message of hope, which went around the world, performing the song “Amore adesso!” in a magical and desolate Piazza San Marco in Veniceadaptation of the song “No Time For Love Like Now” by Michael Stipe and Aaron Dessner, with Italian lyrics by Zucchero.
Furthermore, he released the emotional duet “September” with Stinga song included in Zucchero’s album “DOC Deluxe” (double CD containing all the songs from “DOC” and 6 new songs) and in that of Sting, “Duets”. A maggio 2021 goes out “Inacustico D.O.C. & More”the first entirely acoustic project of Zucchero’s career, and during the summer of 2021 Zucchero held a series of acoustic concerts, in Italy and abroad, despite the reduced capacities due to Covid-19 restrictions.
A November 2021 goes out “Discover”, Zucchero’s first cover project which boasts collaborations with Bono, Elisa and Mahmood and the virtual duet with Fabrizio De André. In December comes out in theaters”SING 2 – Stronger and Stronger” in which Zucchero tries his hand at dubbing by lending his voice to the character Clay Calloway. In 2022 and 2023 Zucchero returns live around the world with his “World Wild Tour”, with which he stops in Italy – at the Verona Arena – with 14 concerts. Last June he returned to his Reggio Emilia, “love and roots” for 2 dates at the RCF Arena (Campovolo) that celebrated his 40-year career.
