Of Emmanuel Milan

Florence – The Regional Council Chamber approved unanimously with 25 favorable votes from the Democratic Party, Italia Viva, Fratelli d’Italia and Lega the proposed resolution linked to the communication from the Regional Council on the awarding of the maritime cabotage service connecting with the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.

In the text of the act, which arrived after a long debate, the President of the Council undertakes to take into consideration the intermodality of transport by providing for the structuring of ferry timetables respecting the connections with trains and buses.

There is also a commitment to take action towards RFI (Italian Railway Network) so that the possibility of entrusting the management of the Campiglia-Piombino Marittima railway section to the same maritime transport manager can also be assessed with the aim of harmonizing the connection and encourage the use of low environmental impact means of transport. The act concludes with the commitment to periodically inform the Regional Council, and in particular the competent commission, on the subsequent phases of the procedure.
