Today, Wednesday 26 June, in the port of Alghero, a grand opening ceremony was held for the third stage of the international circuit The Nations League, dedicated to the ClubSwan 50 and ClubSwan 36 boats which began yesterday 25 June with the trial regatta. An international event of great caliber, for the first time in Alghero, which sees 19 boats racing (11 ClubSwan 50 and 8 ClubSwan 36) with some of the most famous athletes in the world on board, representing 24 nations, from all over the world.
On the occasion of the opening ceremony, in the presence of the Mayor of Alghero Raimondo Cacciotto, the President of the Port of Alghero Consortium Giancarlo Piras, the President of the Alghero Yacht Club and vice president of the Alghero Foundation, Pierpaolo Carta and Valdo Di Nolfo representing the Region Sardinia, with the presence of the President of Nautor Group Leonardo Ferragamo, the sailing event was kicked off from the splendid scenery of the port in the historic center of Alghero.
The opening of the ceremony saw the new generations of sailors, small athletes from the Alghero Yacht Club and the LNI Alghero who acted as standard bearers, after having participated in an interesting environmental laboratory coordinated by Marevivo. In fact, sustainability represents a fundamental focus both for ClubSwan Racing and for the Sardinia Region. The workshop saw the children participate in the return to the sea of sand and shells confiscated from those who have unduly stolen them from the island’s beaches, with an undoubted educational value.
Meanwhile, from Wednesday 26th to Saturday 29th the boats will compete in the beautiful crystalline waters of the Riviera del Corallo in a program of eight races around the buoys (strictly electric, so as not to damage the seabed) offering a fantastic spectacle that can also be admired from the bastions up to the Las Tronas seafront as the only natural balconies.
