LGH Foundation – the entity created in 2021 following the incorporation of the holding LGh Spa into A2aA with the aim of supporting research and innovation in the territories of Cremona, Pavia, Lodi and Franciacorta – has published its second Social Report, relating to 2023, available for consultation on the website www.fondazionelgh.it.

“For the Foundation – we read in a press release – social reporting is a fundamental step to ensure transparency towards all its stakeholders. The Social Report summarizes, in fact, not only the financial and accounting aspects, but also the results of the activities and projects developed over the course of a year with the impact they have generated on the beneficiaries, direct and indirect, and on the territory. In 2023, the LGH Foundation contributed to the implementation of innovative projects in the fields of agri-livestock, the food supply chain, the bioeconomy and Renewable Energy Communities (CER). Collaborations have been initiated with Universities, Research Institutes and Consortia, such as the L. Spallanzani Institute, the SmartAgriFood Observatory of the Polytechnic of Milan, Reindustria and Consorzio.it, giving rise to projects with positive consequences for the reference areas and strengthening the connection with the reference ecosystem.

The following scientific projects were supported:
• Carbon Farming, promoted by Abaco SpA and Cantine Torrevilla (PV), for the development of software for estimating and monitoring the carbon reserve stored in the soil and biomass;
Sustainable Agriculture, promoted by Acquafert Srl (CR), to develop technical solutions for the treatment of agricultural digestate that allow the recovery of the nutrients contained therein in the form of fertilizing products;
• Strategy for PTP Science Park in Lodi, for the promotion of scientific research in the agri-food, life sciences and bioeconomy sectors to enhance the Lodi area;
• Models for the Optimization of the Use of Digestate in Agriculture, created by the Agrifood Research Hub of the University of Brescia, to define guidelines for the rational use of digestate in agriculture, minimizing the environmental impacts of its use;
CER Crema project, promoted by Consorzio.it, for the study of a replicable model for the creation of a Renewable Energy Community within the former Olivetti factory.

The overall contribution disbursed in 2023 by the Foundation in the scientific field amounts to 408,570 Eurosintended for 5 projects with a total value of 734,140 Euroswith a growth of 62% compared to the previous year.

The Foundation has also renewed its commitment in cultural and social field as evidenced by the 20 initiatives supported, including Monteverdi Festival in Cremona, Psychological help desk in Pavia for young people suffering from diabetes, Magica Musica in Crema with educational workshops for people with disabilitiesMusic comes from the cloister in Lodi for hospitalized children and the Philosophers’ Festival along the Oglio in Franciacorta.

“I am convinced that only through joint commitment and a far-sighted vision can we successfully face the challenges related not only to bioenergy and smart agriculture, but also to socio-cultural aspects, in order to promote a positive impact on society” – states the President of the Foundation, Giorgio Bontempi. “I therefore thank all those who collaborated to obtain these results and I am confident in a continuous and important path towards a sustainable future. In the years to follow, our commitment will be to work constantly to make a significant difference.”

Foundation profile
Born in 2021 from the will of the members coming from the experience of Linea Group Holding SpA – A2A Life Company, AEM Cremona, Astem Lodi, ASM Pavia, Cogeme and SCS Crema – LGH Foundation has the aim of contributing to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations and in particular to promote innovation and research projects in the energy, environmental and agricultural fields in the reference territories of southern Lombardy. Great attention is paid to scientific research, through the implementation of innovative technologies, and the development of energy transition projects, circular economy, renewable energy and bioenergy, smart agriculturesmart lands and smart grids, as well as energy efficiency programs and sustainable energy plans.
LGH Foundation pays great attention to the needs of the community, guaranteeing incisiveness and effectiveness to its actions, positioning itself as an aggregating entity to create a positive impact in the reference territories.
As a Third Sector Entity, it is particularly focused on the identities and specific needs of communities and wants to become a solid and secure presence in the five territories of reference, aiming to support valuable projects that provide concrete answers to emerging social needs.
LGH Foundation supports innovative projects and research, which can potentially create unique excellence. Its Scientific Committee is responsible for a rigorous selection process of the projects to support, which must have clear and measurable objectives, as well as generate positive impacts in terms of investments and new jobs.
