The two associations, always at the forefront to plead the ecological cause, have cleaned up the Alli river: a winning partnership
“As in all stories, it starts with a mutual friend.”
These words comprehensively summarize the important partnership – human and of intent – created between the association Sabato del Villaggio ODV, operating in Soveria Mannelli, and Divercity Calabria of Catanzaro: two important associations, always at the forefront of environmental protection, which joined forces to clean up, on Sunday 23 June, the area around the Alli river in Simeri Crichi.
The splendid words cited above, expressed by the President of Divercity Fabio Donato, are echoed by those of Francesco Ranieri, representative of Divercity, and Chiara Pascuzzi, President of Il Sabato del Villaggio ODV. “This is a first appointment – explains Chiara Pascuzzi – which will certainly be followed by other days: the problem here is significant”. Francesco Ranieri explains how this bond was born between two associations that are only geographically distant. “Just a couple of meetings were enough to get to know each other, choose a common date and identify the site, a beautiful place but improperly used as a landfill”.
An open-air landfill, which significantly engaged the willing members of both associations, united by a profound desire to give our planet its “primordial breath”.
During a sultry day at the end of June, the volunteers contributed to the clearing of all types of waste from the eastern bank of the Alli river.
The van made available to the Municipal Administration was filled to the brim: a riot of glass, plastic and other types of rubbish left to perish in a location that deserves greater consideration.
However, the two twinned groups did not just limit themselves to collecting bottles or shards. The volunteers also recovered old household appliances, tires and other “special” waste, which will be removed from the area during the week.
A feat that might have seemed impossible in the eyes of ordinary and too often apathetic citizens, but which
it has become a real “possible” mission for the two associative groups, women and men united by the feeling of conviviality, the spirit of collaboration, the desire to concretely help our land and its inhabitants.
An example to follow, a hope for the future of associations, and beyond.
