The spotlight is on village of San Giovanni in Sassari for a week of celebrations that will culminate with two unmissable days of music and fun. The organization is managed by the cultural association Festeggiamenti San Giovanni Battista, active since 2014 and ready to celebrate its tenth anniversary with a program full of music, entertainment and tradition awaits citizens and tourists starting from Friday 28 June.
Friday 28 June at 10pm, the square of San Giovanni will be transformed into a dance floor with the dance show “Memories 2000”. A musical journey through the iconic songs of the 2000s, to relive the emotions and memories of a decade that marked an entire generation. National DJs, dancers, special effects and total audience involvement will make the evening unforgettable. The young local DJ Gabry Dj will open and close the dance.
Saturday 29 Junegreat music will be the protagonist with the concert of Anna Tatangelo, one of the most loved voices on the Italian scene. At 10pm, the singer will go on stage for an exciting live show that will retrace her greatest hits, from “Girl from the Suburbs” to “Muchaca”, “Essere una donna” up to the most recent “Guapo” and “Mantra”. A modern concert full of energy, with choreography, dancers and a new show that will leave the audience breathless. The last time Anna Tatangelo performed in Sassari dates back to 2007, and this will be an unmissable opportunity for her fans from northern Sardinia. Berny Spanu’s voice will open the concert, while Riccardo Barone’s DJ set will close the evening and the party.
All evenings will have free entry and the organization has provided free (unguarded) parking near the festival, as well as food stands, drink kiosks and exhibition stands within the area.
The week of celebrations began on Monday 24 June with religious celebrations in honor of Saint John the Baptist, with holy mass in the morning and evening presided over by Don Giovanni Tanca. An opportunity to immerse yourself in the tradition and spirituality that characterize this anniversary so deeply felt by the community of Sassari.
A decade of success and fun
The “Comitato Festeggiamenti San Giovanni Battista” association has been active since 2014 and in these ten years it has brought the best artists of regional and national music to the San Giovanni stage, including Tazenda, Collage, Maria Giovanna Cherchi, Istentales, Finardi, Antonella Ruggiero, Bianca Atzei, Shade and Carolina Marquez. Not only music, but also nationally renowned cabaret, comedians and DJs enlivened the festive evenings, making San Giovanni a point of reference for entertainment in Sassari.
An important milestone for the association, which is preparing to celebrate its first ten years with a program full of events and with the promise to continue bringing music, fun and tradition to the Sassari community.
