The inaugural event of Scenari 2024 in Modica was enriched by the presence of Alessandro Baricco, a famous internationally renowned writer. Baricco presented his latest book, “Abel” (Feltrinelli), a work that expertly blends elements of western, mysticism and profound philosophical reflection, in front of an audience of almost 2,000 people at the suggestive location of San Giorgio. The event, organized in collaboration with the Mondadori BookStore and the Garibaldi Theater Foundation, marked a significant moment for the city, which welcomed Baricco with enthusiasm and participation.

The evening

The evening, opened by the mayor of Modica Maria Monisteri, highlighted the perfect synergy between public and private, thanks to the support of the presenting sponsor Mutika EMC, the Sicilian Region, the ARS and the Libero Consorzio Provinciale, together with numerous private sponsors. An innovation this year was the inclusion of the ENS service for the deaf, with a simultaneous interpretation of the dialogue between Baricco and the Sicilian writer Mattia Insolia.

Baricco, after sharing the first chapter of “Abel” with the public, demonstrated a deep connection with his readers, culminating the evening with a long signature and numerous selfies, leaving an indelible mark in the cultural memory of Modica.

The Scenari 2024 program continues with other important events:
