Mariani talks about an amendment presented by Gatti: “They will knock down the pine forest behind Mazzini”

An amendment signed by the regional councilor Paolo Gatti which would be proof of the “mockery of the Marsilio council towards the citizens of Teramo on the new hospital issue”. This was announced by the regional councilor and president of the health commission Sandro Mariani who, with papers in hand, reads that the amendment requires including among the “forest transformation interventions exempt from compensatory charges”, also those which concern the “construction and adaptation of hospitals and public health facilities”. For Mariani this means paving the way for cutting down the pine forest located in the area adjacent to the Mazzini in Teramo, to create there what he called “the barbie hospital”, a buffer structure to satisfy the citizens with a new “hospital » with the resources available, 140 million.
«The Marsilio council had placed the blame for the delays on the mayor D’Alberto, who had to deal with the choice of the location. But the site could not have been chosen without the approval of the hospital network by the Region, which we know only existed a few months ago. And today, with this amendment and with a press conference that I heard that they will call, they will probably want to announce the birth of a small hospital in this area by knocking down the pine forest, nothing to do with the second level one promised. But it will be the Barbie hospital because over 200 million euros are missing. The solution would have been to resort to the project but they didn’t want to. I must believe then that the objective is to make us weaker to transform us into a Cinderella province.”
«If they have to call a press conference to make this announcement, I advise them to avoid it. – concludes Mariani – Let’s avoid things done the Italian way, start with what you have and then leave the works unfinished or non-functional”.
