This afternoon, Wednesday 26 June, starting at 6.00 pm, in the Morselli Room of the Civic Library in Via Sacco, 9, in Varese the book will be presented “All in one breath – a dreamer face to face with the specter.” The author is Michael Imperiali until two years ago director of the Renato Piatti Foundation of Varese.
In the meeting he will be interviewed by Maurizio Ferrari who edited the preface.
“A man, after a life spent working with intellectual disabilities, decides to interview the most mysterious and elusive of interlocutors: the autistic spectrum. After all, in a dream everything is possible, even conversing with a ghost.
What is autism? What is its origin? And above all, is it possible to think of a cure?”
Michele Imperiali imagines a timeless dialogue between a dreamer and autism – or rather, autisms – that ranges between the past, present and future of a complex problem, offering not absolute truths but perspectives and life experiences; a conversation made more of questions than answers, which leaves the reader with glimpses and angles to look at the autistic spectrum from unexpected points of view.
Where scientific certainties do not yet arrive, only a dreamer can go: and the courage to imagine (a creative coexistence with autism, a healthier society, a future that does not yet exist) is what is wished for all of us with a close dialogue.
