BCL: Dinamo chasing the regular season

Banco will face Spartak and Utena in the semifinal of the Qualification round: the winner of the QR will be placed in group E with Aek, Riga and Ramat Gan

The draw ceremony for the 2024-2025 Basketball Champions League was held this morning in the Patrick Baummann in Geneva: Dinamo Banco di Sardegna, present with general manager Giacomo Devecchi, will participate in the Qualification Rounds to try to secure a ticket in the regular season.

52 teams will compete in the Fiba competition, won last year by the Spanish team from Malaga: 28 have already qualified for the regular season and 24 will compete for the 4 places in the Qualification Round. Among these also Dinamo, determined to compete in European competitions for the thirteenth consecutive year with the aim of bringing Sardinia to Europe once again.

Coach Markovic’s boys will face the Qualification round scheduled from 16 to 22 September: the Sassari team, placed in pot 2, will enter directly into the semi-final where they will face one of Spartak (SRB) and Juventus Utena (LTU) who will play in the quarter-finals. In a possible final the blue and white will clash with one of Bonn (GER), seeded already in the semi-final, and the winner between Andorra (ESP) and Antwerp (BEL). Those who do not qualify will be able to choose whether to play the Fiba Europe Cup or give up.

The draw has already defined the regular season groups: the winner of the QR of Dinamo’s group will be placed in group E together with AEK (GRE), Riga (LET) and Ramat Gan (ISR).

Coach Nenad Markovic’s comment: “A very difficult qualifying group awaits us, with Spartak having assembled a very solid team. I know the competition well because in past seasons I have reached the Round of 16 but it will be important to take one step at a time.”

In the next few days, the dates and locations where the Qualification Rounds will be held will be communicated.
