We receive and publish the following note:

The Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani announces the start of the co-conception phase of the “Child Municipality Policy: the city friendly to girls and boys” with a call-for-action.

We are looking for partners with whom to co-design policies and interventions in favor of the well-being of adolescents in Mazara del Vallo: Institutions, Third Sector Bodies, Schools, Companies and Active Citizens who want to participate in the working tables that will be held from June 2024.

The objective of the “Child Municipality Policy” activity is to involve people and organizations from the local community in the definition and implementation of policies aimed at the well-being of young people, through a participatory and inclusive process. The working group will be responsible for gathering the needs of adolescents, developing policies and planning interventions, identifying resources and quantifying a budget, as well as developing a monitoring and documentation plan for the policies and interventions adopted.

Through this initiative, a a platform for participation and catalysing of resources For promote the well-being of adolescentswith specific objectives that include the common definition of a “Child Municipality Policy”, the identification of the areas of intervention and the policies to be promoted, as well as the presentation and dissemination of the Policy on the territory.

The path will include 9 meetings divided into four crucial phases: Exploration, Elaboration, Public Spaces, Definition and Diffusion, culminating with the presentation of the Policy itself.

The path is not limited to planning, but also represents a valuable learning opportunity thanks to active collaboration with LUMSA University and with qualified experts in the field involved in the action.

Furthermore, the objective is also to guarantee sustainability to the Policy even beyond the design phase through the consolidation of partnerships that will be created and theparticipation in tenders for access to targeted funding that allows the implementation of planned interventions, such as Erasmus+, CERV, Fund to combat child educational poverty, PNRR M5C3 – Investment 1. 3 – Structured socio-educational interventions to combat educational poverty in the South, etc.

The Challenges project

The action “Child Municipality Policy: the city friendly to girls and boys” is carried out as part of the Challenges project. The project is aimed at minors aged between 11 and 17 and their families, with particular attention to boys and girls with a migratory background. Through this project, we aim to strengthen the Educational Community, creating solid networks between the various educational actors and encouraging the meeting between people of different cultures for the harmonious development of young people.

The Challenges project was financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU- PNRR M5C3 – Investment 1.3 – Structured socio-educational interventions to combat educational poverty in Southern Italy in support of the Third Sector, fitting into the “National Recovery and Resilience Plan”.
