Students of the Fantini Institute of Vergato have “delayed” their final exams and have in fact returned to school today, 26 June, after the suspension made necessary due to the damage to the bad weather in recent days. In fact, with an order from the mayor, the school complex had been closed due to flooding.

Fortunately, the weather is improving, at least in the Bologna area, and today it is expected to be variable, but without rain.

Apennines and Valsamoggia

In the territory of Vergato many roads have been reopened, but the landslides are different, as in the hamlet of Capriglia, where several residents were evacuated.

Even the so-called “Serrini road” was invaded by mud and debris. Interruptions also in the Salvaro area, between Vergato and Grizzana Morandi, not far from the Reno river.

In the municipality of Castel d’Aiano the stream at Villa d’Aiano overflowed with debris, mud and water spilled onto the streets and onto the grounds of some houses. A resident there was also evacuated.

There are several roads that present traffic problems: via Villa at the entrance to the hamlet from Castel d’Aiano, via Vergatello on the border with the Municipality of Vergato, via Canobbi and via Pescaroggio in the Municipality of Montese at the height of Ponte Rosola.

Also affected Valsamoggia: in Savigno a stretch of Via delle Gardelline collapsed and some families in the area were left without water.

Yesterday afternoon, the SP 27 bridge over the Samoggia stream in Savigno was closed as a precaution due to damage to the road surface of the access ramp. The bridge will remain closed for a few days, until the static checks are completed. Traffic is diverted onto the municipal road via dei Mulini.

For Valsamoggia it is the second critical situation in just over a month: between 18 and 19 May a storm caused many floods throughout the territory with dangers also for the population. Vasco Mladenovic, from Monteveglio, was saved by the firefighters while he, clinging to a tree, tried to save himself from the fury of the water that had overwhelmed the road.
