A 37-year-old Tunisian was banned from approaching the offended person and had to wear an electronic bracelet. The measure was carried out by the Police and was ordered following a complaint filed by a young Italian woman, the man’s former partner.

An obsessive control

The woman had decided to end the relationship due to the obsessive attention and constant control exercised by the man, which generated a sense of insecurity and oppression in her. Despite the end of the cohabitation and the woman’s return to Modica, the man continued to stalk her, send her calls at all hours and persecute her with compulsive requests for reconciliation.

The harassment and insults received in public places, in the presence of friends and relatives, forced the woman to change her lifestyle habits, even avoiding leaving the house except for work reasons.

Following the complaint filed by the woman, the so-called Red Code was immediately activated. In a few days, the officers of the Modica Police Station collected testimonies from the victim, her family members and other people aware of the man’s persecutory behavior. These elements allowed the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ragusa to obtain from the GIP a precautionary measure prohibiting them from approaching.

The electronic bracelet applied to the man will allow him to monitor his movements and ensure that he does not come closer less than 500 meters from the complainant. In case of violation of this measure, deferred arrest is foreseen.
