The ‘Puccini photographer’ exhibition flies to the Teatro Real in Madrid

Confirming the success achieved in Lucca, the exhibition What eye in the world. Puccini photographerorganized by the Ragghianti Foundation in collaboration with the Simonetta Puccini Foundation for Giacomo Puccini and the Giacomo Puccini Study Center, debuts in the spaces of Teatro Real in Madrid as part of the international festival PhotoEspaña 2024, the most prestigious Spanish photography and visual arts event, under the patronage of the Italian embassy.

The exhibition, curated by Paolo Bolpagni, Gabriella Biagi Ravenni and Patrizia Mavilla, It will be open to visitors from 1st to 22nd July. In recent months the exhibition has achieved enormous success in Lucca at the Ragghianti Foundation, with the participation of thousands of visitors, and has generated hundreds of articles published in Italian and international newspapers, television reports and radio broadcasts. Now, a selection of twenty photographs from the ninety exhibited in Lucca will be on display in Madridreproduced on large format media in the foyer, along the monumental staircases and in other spaces of the Teatro Real, to allow for better enjoyment by the public.

Furthermore, we cannot help but be pleased to share Puccini’s unprecedented passion for photography with an international audience, and we could not imagine a more suitable venue than that of one of the main European theaters – comments Paolo Bolpagni, director of the Ragghianti Foundation and co- curator of the exhibition -. Particularly welcome, then, is the desired coincidence of the inauguration with the premiere of Madame Butterfly directed by Maestro Nicola Luisotti. We think that this collaboration allows us to further enrich the international cultural panorama of the city of Lucca and create new opportunities for artistic dialogue.”

Furthermore, on 2 July at 6pm, Paolo Bolpagni and Nicola Luisotti himself will be the protagonists of a conference-dialogue at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, introduced by the director Maria Luisa Pappalardo. The retrospective is currently underway at the Ragghianti Foundation in Lucca Otto Hofmann European artist: from Bauhaus to Italy until 14 July, curated by Paolo Bolpagni and Giovanni Battista Martini.
