Roma-Genoa live, epilogue of the Under 15 Serie AB 2023-24 championship
The TIM Youth Finals they are ready to experience another exciting chapter, the last of the Serie A and B teams, with the championship final Under 15scheduled for tonight at the ‘Cino e Lillo Del Duca’ stadium in Ascoli Piceno, between Genoa and Rome, the same clubs that faced each other in the final act of theUnder 18 (which ended with the victory of the rossoblù in Ancona). The Giallorossi are looking for their seventh Italian title in the category while the Rossoblù will compete in their first final. On the bench, a fascinating duel between sons of art: on one side Mattia Scala, son of the Giallorossi Club Manager Vito, and on the other Jacopo Sbravati, son of the manager of the Rossoblù youth sector Michele, both in their first final ever in the Youth Championships.
The Giallorossi, after finishing Group C in 1st place with 60 points (best first-placed team), eliminated, in order, Venezia in the round of 16 (two wins: 3-1 away in the first leg and 2-0 at home in the return leg), Juventus in the quarter-finals thanks to their best placing in the elimination groups (1-0 win in Vinovo in the first leg and 1-0 defeat in Trigoria in the return leg) and the reigning Italian champions Inter in the semi-final (1-1 draw in the first leg in Milan and 2-0 win in the return leg in Rome): “The boys are getting ready to play their first national final – specifies the Giallorossi coach Mattia Scala -. They can’t wait to get on the pitch. They’ve had a splendid run and they want to put the so-called icing on the cake for this season”. The season saw the great protagonists of the striker Filippo Russo, who arrived in the summer from the Campania amateurs of Progetto Giovani 2006 and was Roma’s top scorer with 24 goals in 26 games, and the midfielder Gioele Giammattei, bought last August from the Abruzzo amateurs of Durini Pescara 1989 and the protagonist of 11 goals in 26 appearances.
The rossoblù, however, won the first final in their history in the category after finishing group A in 1st place with 56 points (third best before) and having overtaken Lazio in the round of 16 (1-0 away win in the first leg and a 1-1 home draw in the second leg), Palermo in the quarter-finals (3-3 away in the first leg and a 5-1 win at home in the second leg) and Milan in the semi-finals (two victories: 1-0 at ‘Begato 9’ and 2-1 comeback against ‘Vismara’): “Having reached the final is a source of great pride – admits Jacopo Sbravati, Genoa coach -, both for us and for the club. I’ve been coaching these guys for two years ( class of 2009, ed.) and I would like to thank them for the passion and commitment they have always shown, especially those who have found less space. We will have to be good at not losing that touch of light-heartedness that has allowed us to face in the best of times ways this season finale. We must take to the field aware of our capabilities and ready to give everything to try to close a journey that began two seasons ago in style.” A path in which the midfielder born in 2010, Roberto Scaglione, capable of scoring 7 goals in 20 games, and the defender Gabriele Mandirola, protagonist of 6 goals in 27 appearances, certainly showed themselves.
